Who
is Mark Russell?

Me sitting in Piston Provost XF603 |
I'm 24 and until 1999 lived in Yeovil, Somerset.
Just ten minutes away was HMS Heron, or more
commonly called RNAS Yeovilton. As I lived
close to an active military airfield the
noise at times of Sea Harriers and now the
Lynx (and the occasional Jaguar and Tornado)
joining the landing circuit can be a little
noisy. Although on the other hand I used to
see the Royal Navy Historic Flight's
aircraft.
I've
been interested in aviation since I was four,
when my dad used to take me up to Yeovilton,
and let me sit right at the end of the
runway! Many different types of aircraft have
landed and taken off over me, none more
memorable when an English Electric Lightning
took off at full power, deafening, but
amazing! In Yeovil there was no day that went
past without an aircraft or helicopter flying
overhead. With Yeovilton ten minutes away,
and the Westland Works across town, both the
Navy and RAF variants of the EH101 became
more and more familiar, next came the Apache!
I started attending the annual Yeovilton Air
show from 1985, and have attended every event
since, bar 1993. So you can probably gather I
know Yeovilton like the back of my hand.
I got
connected to the Internet in June 1998 and
set up the FRADU Hunter Site in late July.
The site is still in its early stages, but in
time the quality and presentation is sure to
grow. Along the way I have made some new
friends, who have helped me a great deal with
regards to photos, information and general
advice. Visitor numbers have grown steadily over the past
five years,
and I am hopeful that the rise will
continue long into the future.
I hope
that you enjoy visiting my pages, and find
time to sign the Guestbook.
